Atlantic 10 Conference
March 9-13. All games at Brooklyn.
kPOY: DeAndre Bembry, Saint Joseph’s

The A-10 tournament gets underway on Wednesday with two first-round games at the Barclays Center.

Three teams shared the regular season title with 14-4 records and it would have been a quartet had Saint Joseph’s not been upset at home by Duquesne in the final game of the season. All four of the teams earned byes to the quarterfinals and each are legitimate threats to win the tournament, although the pecking order is more defined than it is the Pac-12.

It appears that there will be more urgency for both VCU and St. Bonaventure, whose NCAA tournament bids may depend on winning three games in Brooklyn. It’s hard to say if urgency is worth anything. Even if it isn’t, VCU is the favorite, but with only little more than a one-in-four chance, this event is one of the more wide open tournaments of championship week.
