One of the more annoying things about preparing for a game is figuring out which players are available for action. I’ve made a small but useful change to the player stats section on the team page to help interested parties figure this out. Players that have missed their team’s last game have their game total highlighted in red. If a player has missed his team’s last three games, I pull all of the HTML tricks out of the bag and make the game red and bolded. Example below…
If your job depends on this information being super-duper accurate, you’ll want to double-check with another source, obviously. Clicking on the games figure will take you to a Google News search that may or may not provide useful information on the situation. This link won’t be too helpful in cases where a player misses games for reasons other than injury. But you can also click on the player and get his game log for this season, which will reveal the game-level data I have for each player.
Of course, this scheme does not cover the case where a player gets injured in the previous game and is out for the next game. You’re still on your own in those cases.
