This is the final installment of log5 analysis for November tournaments that have real brackets…
Great Alaska Shootout
The Great Alaska shootout starts tonight and Belmont will attempt to bring the title home to an OVC team for the second consecutive season. The GAS is back on real TV with CBS Sports Network covering six games. The field is still quite weak outside of Belmont, who’s the biggest favorite in any of the November tournaments that have a true bracket.

Battle 4 Atlantis
These teams are literally battling for a mythical island buried at the bottom of a sea somewhere. There was a time not very long ago when there was a concern ESPN had control over preseason tournaments. Then this season’s Battle 4 Atlantis came along. It’s got a field stronger than Maui (even if one excludes Chaminade from the calculations) and it’s televised by NBC Sports Network. I’m kind of surprised there isn’t more “Duke is a really, really good team” talk. This event could be the jumping off point for that conversation.
Semis Final Champ Louisville 78.4 59.0 35.3 Duke 50.8 32.0 18.0 Minnesota 49.2 30.7 17.0 VCU 54.2 21.2 9.7 Memphis 45.8 16.1 6.7 Missouri 54.9 18.1 6.3 Stanford 45.1 13.1 4.0 Northern Iowa 21.6 9.9 2.9
DirecTV Classic
Oh, the delicious irony in a Pac-12 team being the favorite in something called the DirecTV Classic. Cal’s not a huge favorite by any means, but maybe a win will put a little more pressure on the satellite provider to reach a deal with the Pac-12 Network. Drexel is sadly without senior two-guard Chris Fouch for the rest of the season, so mentally adjust their chances accordingly.
Semis Final Champ Cal 85.4 62.0 36.7 Saint Mary's 54.5 37.2 20.9 Drexel 45.5 29.2 15.1 Xavier 74.6 29.0 12.6 Georgia Tech 77.6 29.4 12.0 Drake 14.6 4.9 1.0 Pacific 25.4 4.5 1.0 Rice 22.4 3.7 0.6
Old Spice Classic
The Old Spice Classic is a who’s who of mediocre power-conference teams with Gonzaga and Davidson thrown in. Davidson is reeling from a loss to Milwaukee, so this has the potential of being a Gonzaga showcase.
Semis Final Champ Gonzaga 77.0 64.0 52.4 Davidson 65.4 43.0 14.9 West Virginia 72.2 32.7 8.8 Clemson 23.0 13.7 8.0 Oklahoma 58.2 14.3 7.4 Vanderbilt 34.6 17.6 4.1 UTEP 41.8 8.0 3.5 Marist 27.8 6.8 0.9
