Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference
March 7-11. All games at Norfolk.
kPOY: James Daniel, Howard.
The MEAC gets underway with two quarterfinal games Monday evening at the Scope.
For the first time since 2003, the MEAC is the worst-rated conference in the land. I am fairly sure the conference went 0-for-whatever against all Tier A and B opponents that its members faced, but I haven’t researched it. (One has to cut corners somewhere this week.)
Norfolk State is the highest-rated team at 238, and the Spartans are the slight favorite to win here despite finishing one game behind Hampton in the standings. The two teams split the season series, although Norfolk State beat Hampton by 20 in the season finale.
The MEAC spreads 11 games over five days so fans can really savor the event. Unfortunately, whatever team emerges here is unlikely to win in Dayton.
