kenpom.com API terms of service

kenpom.com offers some of its public data in machine readable format via an Application Programming Interface ("API") through a special annual subscription. This service is offered subject to your acceptance of the terms and conditions contained herein as well as any relevant sections of the kenpom.com Website Policies and Privacy Policy (collectively, the "Agreement"). “API Data” means any data, content, metadata, or other information obtained from or derived using the API.

1. Account keys

Upon a paid API subscription, you will be granted API credentials (e.g., an API key). You must keep credentials secure and not share them. You are responsible for all activity under Your account/keys.

2. Acceptable Uses

Subject to these Terms, kenpom.com grants You a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to access and use the API solely for personal, non-commercial purposes. Examples of permitted personal, non-commercial use include: journalistic efforts, personal projects, learning, academic study, and hobby applications used only by You.

You may not (i) reproduce, display, or make available API data on any public-facing website, application, or database without the Web Site's prior written permission; (ii) share, sublicense, sell, or redistribute API data or access credentials; (iii) use automated systems or scripts to extract or store bulk data beyond rate limits or reasonable use as determined by the Web Site; or (iv) use the API in any manner that could harm, disable, overburden, or otherwise interfere with the operation or security of the Web Site or its services.

3. Attribution

Any analysis, visualization, model, or other derivative work created using API data must clearly attribute kenpom.com as the data source. You may not present API data as originating from another provider or imply endorsement by the Web Site without prior written permission.

4. Rate Limits

kenpom.com may, at its sole discretion, throttle, rate-limit, suspend, or terminate access for excessive or abusive use, or to protect the API, users, or systems. You consent to kenpom.com monitoring usage and collecting logs to operate, secure, and improve the API and ensure compliance.

5. Ownership/IP rights

As between the parties, kenpom.com owns all rights, title, and interest in and to the API, API Data, and Documentation, including all IP rights. No rights are granted except as expressly stated. If You provide suggestions, ideas, or feedback, You grant kenpom.com a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use and exploit the feedback without restriction or attribution.

6. Service

The Web Site does not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the API or the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data returned. The Web Site may modify, restrict, or discontinue any API endpoint, data field, or feature at any time without notice, and shall not be liable for any damages or losses arising therefrom.

7. Changes to these terms

The Web Site reserves the right to modify or update these Terms of Use at any time. Any changes will be posted on this page, and continued use of the Web Site or any related services after such posting constitutes Your acceptance of the revised Terms.
